Description #
An analytical note explaining why per element identity verification structurally cannot detect synthetic identity fraud: every element of a fabricated identity passes its own check because every element is genuine, and only the binding between them is false. Sets out the five phase lifecycle from assembly through bust out, evaluates nine standard verification controls against this threat one by one, including the one genuine structural counter available today, and argues that detection capability distributed across smaller institutions is the relevant countermeasure because the scheme depends on the weakest entry point.
